Developing the capacity of different fresh market actors through training and piloting source segregation is one of the major activities of the assignment. Prior to the capacity-building activities, a baseline study will be conducted to assess the existing knowledge and practices of vendors, market committees/associations, cleaners, and waste collectors regarding waste segregation, management, Food hygiene, personal hygiene, safe food handling, and market maintenance and Governance. After completion of the capacity-building activities, an end-line study will be conducted to capture the changes or impacts of the capacity development initiatives. Based on the study findings, a detailed strategic plan for implementing waste segregation initiatives in fresh markets will be developed and disseminated through city and national-level seminars.
