Project Description:

The key objectives of the research were to improve accountability and responsiveness of local government to meet practical and strategic needs of children as well as to strengthen the capacity of local government to promote and protect child rights by 2013 in Manikganj of Dhaka division.DM WATCH conducted a HHS census in 8000 households and prepared a child database. Both primary and secondary data have been used for the study. Quantitative method was taken into consideration while conducting the research. A structured and pre-coded questionnaire was developed for the survey. Association of various components of governance with children specific services was analysed through t-test, One- way-ANOVA and custom table. The findings of the study indicate that the project intervention had a positive impact on the local government officials to make them aware of child rights issues so that they consistently make decisions in the best interests of children.
